Felicia is to be the female Shepard character from Mass Effect in this painting. I’ve started to paint in her armour in this image.

Here’s the latest update on the progress of my current painting. Still not got the likeness I’m after yet.
I’ve started the painting now. Although this is a larger painting with other things going on I am concentrating on getting the face right. If I don’t get this part right the painting will be scrapped without wasting any time on the rest of it. It’s looking okay at the moment but I need to put more work into it so I am happy before moving on. I really get a bit uncomfortable about posting unfinished work but maybe someone will appreciate seeing the different stages of progress 🙂

Felicia Day painting preparation sketch 4.
Here’s a sketch of the headshot I will probably use for the painting. I may change the expression slightly when it comes to painting the picture. This one had a bit more time spent on it and I used some darker pencils so it’s a bit smudged but it turned out okay in the end. The paper wore a bit thin in places where I’d overworked some areas.

Before creating a painting where I have to get the features correct so the face is recognisable, I like to do a few sketches first. By doing this I can learn the facial features of that person from different angles which helps to improve the final piece.
I plan on doing a painting featuring Felica Day, (with a Sci-Fi twist), so here’s a pencil sketch of her as I start to learn her features.
Faith oil painting
I am working on a new Faith/Eliza Dushku painting which I am trying to get finished in the next few days. I’m going to post the progress of this one as I do it every few hours if possible. This is an oil painting on canvas 70cm x 50cm. Here’s the progress so far.

I’ve done some more work on the face now which is an improvement I think.

The background is starting to take shape now.

When I look at old paintings I have done it can bring back memories of what was happening at the time I was doing them. This Faith painting will always remind me of Ronnie O’Sullivan winning his 4th World Snooker championship. Well done Ronnie!!!

Deckard painting – continued…
Updated 20/02/12
A few more facial refinements. Not far to go now.
Updated 19/02/12
The face has been worked on and it’s looking back like Mr Ford after going a bit off track.
Here’s an update on the Deckard oil painting I’ve come back to after a long break. It had started to go a bit wrong so I left it for a while. I decided to pick it up again this evening to fix some of the damage done. I think I’ve recovered it so far. I hope to finish it this week. This is a photo instead of a scan as the paint is still wet from tonights work.
Still not happy with it though. More work to do tomorrow!
