Here’s a sketch from another angle.

Felicia Day sketch 3
Here’s a second Felicia Day sketch in preparation for an oil painting I plan to do shortly. This is a side view of her face. The painting is going to have a Mass Effect theme. This sketch is part of learning the facial features of Felicia Day. Say that tongue twister fast 3 times if you can π
Felicia Day sketch 2
Before creating a painting where I have to get the features correct so the face is recognisable, I like to do a few sketches first. By doing this I can learn the facial features of that person from different angles which helps to improve the final piece.
I plan on doing a painting featuring Felica Day, (with a Sci-Fi twist), so here’s a pencil sketch of her as I start to learn her features.

I met the inspirational Felicia Day again, the first time was at the Starfury event in London earlier this year. It was at that event I was introduced to her work and discovered what a hard working, funny and down to earth person she is!
Don’t throw away that scifiartist.com card I gave you! lol π I’ll be doing a Felica painting in some shape or form very soon so watch this space!
Earlier in the day I’d been to the Geek & Sundry panel. There was a big queue to get in and even then I missed the start and was stuck at the back, However it was a very funny panel and worth the wait!
SDCC 2012 was as hectic as expected. I return from San Diego motivated with new ideas. I’ll talk about those later but for now here are a few pics from San Diego Comic-Con 2012.
I accidentally hit a pigeon on the road. Sorry pigeon. A couple of years ago it was a rabbit or 2.
I was an extra in the film “The rise and fall of a white collar hooligan” last year. The film is now available on DVD & Blu Ray. My appearances are brief, blink and you’ll miss them lol. Here’s a few screens I captured.
My tiny head is on the DVD cover and the poster as well. Click on the image for a link to the film on Amazon.
My Faith/Eliza Dushku painting was still not finished as I travelled down to Inva2ion this weekend in London. I needed to finish it to enter it into the Art competition and to have it on show for people to see during the convention. I took my easel and paints with me and I finished it off during the Friday night and Saturday morning from my hotel room in the Renaissance at Heathrow. I had to use the hairdryer on it to get the paint to dry quicker π
Here is the painting. To give it a more personal touch I set the scene in Boston at Fenway Park the home of the Boston Red Sox. The bad guys (zombies/Demons) in the corner are supporters of rival team the New York Yankees. The dog is supposed to be Max Factor (Elizas dog making a guest appearance :D) jumping into the face of unknown danger to protect his owner, while Faith prepares to swipe at her unseen enemy with a baseball bat!
I did finally get to meet Eliza several times over the weekend and got a photo taken π

I am working on a new Faith/Eliza Dushku painting which I am trying to get finished in the next few days. I’m going to post the progress of this one as I do it every few hours if possible. This is an oil painting on canvas 70cm x 50cm. Here’s the progress so far.

When I look at old paintings I have done it can bring back memories of what was happening at the time I was doing them. This Faith painting will always remind me of Ronnie O’Sullivan winning his 4th World Snooker championship. Well done Ronnie!!!

Oh yes… and there’s a dog in the painting π

A few more facial refinements. Not far to go now.
Updated 19/02/12
The face has been worked on and it’s looking back like Mr Ford after going a bit off track.
Still not happy with it though. More work to do tomorrow!
