Felicia Day Mass Effect painting 6
Update 27/03/13 the work done on the face is starting to be worth the effort now. Still not perfect, too happy looking at the moment but the likeness is getting closer.
(EDIT: 07/04/13 What the hell was I thinking, this looks nothing like her… please look at the final image to see improvements :D)
I have a few days off from the day job which I am using as a finishing off week. Felicia day Shepard from Mass Effect is a definite to finish this week in time for the Geek & Sundry 1 year anniversary. I shall be adding the G&S logo onto the armour before it’s finished. Anyway you’ll notice the face has changed again slightly as I’m still not happy with it. Getting better now though.

Latest update number 14. Fireballs painted into the sky 3 days before the Meteor flew through the Russian sky. Not saying I predicted it but… 😀 Work done on the gun and armour also.
Latest update number 13. Distractions have kept me away but I’m back and close to the finishing line. The most fun part for me is finishing off the painting with detail and lighting. I’ve started on the armour now.

Update number 10
After a break over the festive season I’m painting again 😀
Here’s the latest progress on the Felicia Day Mass Effect oil painting. I’ve started on the background now and added a new character Thane. I’m hoping to push on and get this finished within the next week.

Mass Effect – Miranda
Deckard oil painting 2
Miranda – Mass Effect painting
I think this is finished now. This is Miranda on Illium. Miranda is a character from the Mass Effect series of games. The background scene is from a balcony overlooking a city on Illium, a planet that features in Mass Effect 2. Facial reference from images of actress Yvonne Strahovski were used. Yvonne is the actress who played the voice of Miranda and the character is also modelled on her likeness in the games.
I started off with a pencil drawing of the character. Once scanned onto the computer I painted in the rest. When playing Mass Effect 2 there are many WOW moments when you take in the scenery. For me walking around the city on this planet I would spend a lot of time looking over the balconies onto the cityscape below. Bioware did a really good job on the visuals here! The reason I have done this painting is in appreciation of Mass Effect, the artists behind it and the beautiful Yvonne Strahovski. I couldn’t really go wrong making this one look pretty 😛
I’m creating a larger wallpaper version for people to download to use as their desktop background this weekend 😀
Deckard oil painting
Continuing on from the Rick Deckard sketch, here is the painting so far based on that sketch. This is an oil painting A4 size. This is now starting to look like a 1982 Harrison Ford from the film Blade Runner.
I had been struggling and nearly ripped it up earlier in the process as it was strangely looking like Mel Gibson but I’m glad I didn’t give up on it as a few more hours of work has started to produce a better likeness.
